Cancellation Policy:

We are sorry that we cannot issue refunds for classes, but you may send someone in your place or choose another class if you cannot make it for any reason.

We do require at least 48 hours notice for us to provide credit for another class, otherwise we are left with an empty spot and not enough time to refill if off the waiting list.

For snowy days, please call Jennifer and she will let you know if the class is still being held.

Summer Cooking Camp for Kids
A week-long exploration of food for kids 10 and up.

Monday July 23 - Friday, July 27* (5 classes); 11 - 2pm

*NOTE: This camp is being held in the teaching kitchen of West Side High School (West 102nd Street/Columbus).

All classes are hands-on and include a full sit-down lunch and recipe packet at the end of each class. (Please alert us ahead of time if there are any food allergies). This session is being taught by Chef-Instructor Julie Negrin.

Monday: Mexican

Tuesday: Northern Italian

Wednesday: Mediterranean

Thursday:  Asian

Friday: Mystery Basket

 

DAY 1: Mexican

Baja Fish Tacos

Tropical Mango Salsa

Elotes (Mexican Corn-on-the-Cob)

Black Bean Veggie Sauté

Creamy Guacamole

DAY 2: Northern Italian

Make-Your-Own Vinaigrette and Salad

Fresh Ricotta Gnocchi with Basil Pesto

Classic Parmesan Risotto

Tricolore Salad with Roasted Beets

Chocolate-Pistachio Biscotti

Skills Covered: Sauces, Homemade Pastas, Vinaigrettes

 

DAY 3: Mediterranean

Falafel with Whipped Tahini Sauce

Chicken & Vegetable Kebabs

The Ultimate Greek Salad

Individual Spinach Pies

Whipped Ricotta with Honey and Fresh Berries

Skills Covered: Baking, Seasoning, Frying Safely

 

Day 4: Asian

Vietnamese Summer Rolls with Mango and Shrimp served with with Nuac Cham (hot sour salty sweet

dipping sauce)

Shanghai Potsticker Dumplings

Coconut Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango

Fresh Watermelon Juice with Basil Seeds

Skills Covered: Blending Flavors (hot/sour/salty/sweet), Pan-Frying, Cooking Rice

 

DAY 5: Mystery Basket Day


The kids learn to how cook without using recipe! Drawing on the skills they learned that week, the kids will divide up into teams of 2 to create a meal out a basket of ingredients pre-chosen by their instructor. By far the most fun and challenging day!  We will also work on recipes that the kids express interest in during the week.
