Tasting Tour of Little India (Queens)

Join us as we head to the real Little India in Jackson Heights, Queens. A quick subway ride from Manhattan affords you the feeling of being thousands of miles from home. The streets of Jackson Heights are lined with some of the best Indian street foods, sweet shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and shops filled with vibrant fabrics and yellow gold.

Chef-Instructor Jennifer Clair will guide you through her favorite shops while sampling foods all along the way. We'll visit a chaat shop and sample 2 different kinds of this spectacular Indian snack. We'll visit a few brightly-colored Indian sweet shops to sample some of the best gulab jamun and rasmalai in the city. And we'll keep cool with yogurt lassi drinks while sampling a variety of freshly baked Indian breads. We will also break mid-way for a sit down sampling, so we are not on our feet all afternoon.

After the tour you will have the confidence to walk into any Indian restaurant or snack shop and order things you never knew you could.

The tour will begin and end at the Indian grocery superstore, Patel Brothers. We'll wander through all the aisles and demystify the different kinds of rice, spices, fresh vegetables, breads, cookware, and condiments available. After the tour, you will have a chance to fill your shopping bags before heading home.

There might be no better way to spend a Saturday morning.
